But I feel hugely welcome in Mumbai. I don’t know why filmmakers are showing so much interest in me.”Spirited, spunky and beautiful, Asin (pronounced Ah-sin) shows a sense of humour when she explains her name: “Asin is coined from Sanskrit and English. It means ‘sinless’... like ‘Amala’... without blemish. I hope I live up to my name in Mumbai.”For now, Mumbai is her home. “But only because my immediate commitments are in Mumbai,” she clarifies. “I’m the brand ambassador for six multi-national companies and the ads need to be shot in Mumbai. Abishek wants hrithik in sarkar 3

Will Sarkar 3 happen? At the moment, no one knows the answer to this, perhaps not even Ramgopal Verma. But the way Sarkar Raj finishes a sequel seems a distinct and perhaps inevitable possibility. So, with Abhishek out of the picture, leaving Big B to do the job of political king maker once again, what would Sarkar3 be made of? Some would feel that Aishwarya may be the key figure apart from Amitabh in Sarkar 3.But Abhishek has a different opinion. In an interview he was quoted saying that he would like to see Hrithik in Sarkar 3 if and when it happens. If you have seen Sarkar (the first part) you might know that Subhash Naghre (Big B’s) character had two sons, one Abhishekh and the other played by Kay Kay Menon. Kay Kay Menon’s character had a son (Chikoo) who does not appear in Sarkar Raj.However at the end of the movie Amitabh does ask his wife to call Chikoo back immediately. That might be where the next Sarkar begins and the way Abhishek sees it, Hrithik would be an exciting choice.

Actress took over 25 retakes to a shot

Vidya Balan had a tough time matching up with Shahid Kapoor while shooting a dance number for the promotional video of Kismet Konnection. It took more than 25 takes before one single dance step could be finalized. The sensuous number, choreographed by Ahmed Khan, required Vidya to pirouette in high heels, and she was clearly ill at ease. A source, who was present on the sets said, “Vidya took more than 25 takes to get her moves right.She had never done such a dance number before. To top it all, she had to wear high heels.” Choreographer Ahmed jumped to Vidya's defense and said, “Even though she had a difficult time keeping up with a super-swift Shahid, she did not request me to change the steps. Besides, this is the first time that she was shooting a racy, western number.”

Your looks: Genes or hard work?
Genes definitely have something to do with it. I come from a very wholesome, middle-class family. So I think my upbringing and healthy lifestyle has also helped.
What's your diet like?
Well, it's hard, but I usually just eat my normal home food, like roti, subzis and chicken, basic Punjabi food. I'm not a huge fan of all this dieting, but I do have one rule: Watch those carbs! When it comes to international food, I enjoy it, but usually only go for it when I'm out of the country. I absolutely must have my food, though!
Are you always in the gym?
To be honest, I'm not really a great fan of working out (laughs). But if I have a certain type of role, and need to be trim and fit, I'll definitely get motivated. Still, I usually need a trainer to be really tough on me, to get me to the gym. A personal trainer is a big help. At the end of the day, though, I'd rather curl up in bed to read or watch movies. I love books from the best-seller lists and I'm huge fan of films. Although recently I've been so busy that I hardly have time. I've been reading the same book for two months!
Socialite or homebody?
I have to attend a lot of these (social events). But I really love my home! I love being there and just relaxing.
Any cosmetic tips?
When I'm not going for filming or an event, I wear light make-up. Of course recently, for Love Story 2050, I had to dye my hair red two different times!
Did you like the look?
I was nervous at first, because I wasn't sure how people would react to it. But every one was saying how nice it looked, and I soon grew fond of it. It was very different! But, unfortunately, all the chemicals really fried my hair, from the dying. I had to cut off a few inches (motions to her hair)!
Can you go back to the red 'do?
I'm not sure. I'm really excited to see how people react once the movie launches!

Mallika Never Minds Acting Nude

Mallika Sherawat is in some ways like Bo Derek and Brooke Shields. She has a certain appeal and oomph that sets her apart from other actors.

Sarkar raj review

Sarkar Raj is One of those sublimely rare movies in which every element–casting, acting, directing, script, cinematography, score–comes together.
It is an incredibly rare occurrence for a sequel to be as good as or better than the original. Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj not only lives up to its predecessor’s (Sarkar’s) reputation but equals and, in some respects, exceeds it, as Devansh Patel from the Observer series newspapers, London, bring you the first ever review of the film
The first film, Sarkar, concluded as Shankar Nagre (Abhishek Bachchan) evened up the score in the attempted murder of his father by killing his own brother Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon) and his fellow masterminds Rashid, Selva Mani, Vishram Bhagat and the Swamiji. In this wonderful follow up, Shankar begins working in earnest to fulfill his role as the new Sarkar. But the question is - Will he be successful? The movie starts off with this big question in everyones mind as the film title begins to roll.
Story:
It’s Subhash Nagre’s (Amitabh Bachchan’s) 60th birthday where he is seen greeting the public by a short speech which goes something like this - “Har baap yeh umeed mein jeeta hain ki ek din apne bete se uski haar ho. Ab tak maine jo kuch bhi kiya, mere bete ne woh do saal mein kar dikhaya”. Sarkar’s life is still the same. His most trusted associate Chander (Ravi Kale) is responsible for the security of Sarkar and the day to day proceedings, from Sarkar’s black lungi to his tilak to his body-guards, everything is in the same order and nothing has really changed apart from Shankar’s clever way of handling the business. But when everything seems to be going fine in a Bollywood film, we know that there are bound to be some baddies hiding behind the bush. So one fine day, Hassan Qazi (Govind Namdeo) and deputy Chief Minister Kanga (Shayaji Shinde) briefly talk about their new plan to get rid of Sarkar and his regime by trying to set up a meeting with a London based business tycoon Anita (Aishwarya Rai) and her father Mike (Victor Banerjee). Both the father and the daughter want to set up a power plant in Maharashtra’s Thakarwadi village, which happens to be the same village where Sarkar studied all the tricks of the trade from his guru Rao Saab (Dilip Prabhavalkar) but Hassan Qazi urges them to meet Sarkar because it is his decision which will have the final say whether or not the power plant will be set up. Anita now comes with Hassan Qazi to Mumbai to meet Sarkar only to find out that he isn’t happy with her power plant idea as it will ruin the 40,000 houses of the villagers. But Shankar has other plans. He convinces Sarkar by saying Nazdiki nuksaan dekhne se pehle…door ka fayda dekhna chahiye. But the green signal hasn’t been given yet because Sarkar believes that he still needs to talk to Rao Saab, his mentor, and take his final call. The verdict was out and both Anita and Shankar get busy in setting up their dream project in Thakarwadi. But wait…the road is not all clear. Come Sanjay Somji (Rajesh Shringapure), the grandson of Rao saab. Short tempered and the one who does not support western influences stands as a wall in front of those who want to build the power plant. He starts provoking the villagers against Shankar and Sarkar. Though Shankar still thinks that it is because of his ignorance that Somji is taking such harsh measures. So while talking to Somji over the phone, Shankar’s car explodes. Who dies? Well, it’s for you to find out. The ‘cannot take no for an answer’ Shankar is gutted by the lack of security and soon fires his 20 year old vafadaar Chander and appoints Bala as his new head of security. The question to be asked here is, why does Shankar fire Chander knowing that who planted the bomb in his car. Again…for you to find out. In between all this mishap, the next Indian Idol, Kantilal Vora, not Vohra, (Upyendra Limaye) comes in the picture to set up the same power plant in Gujarat. Then, Somji gets kidnapped, Shankar is out of the project as Kantilal Vora steps in, Chander unites with Shankar again, a surprise killer called Negi enters the scene to kill…..ha ha …not gonna tell you…the Press conference, Sarkar in hospital because of heart attack, and before we know that Anita and Shankar fall in love…Yes! you heard…something happens!
By the end of all this, you must be ignoring this review and wanting to book your tickets to see this well executed film.

Performances:
Ram Gopal Varma handles a lot of the sequels material very well. As in the earlier film, he reveals himself as a master of mood, atmosphere, and period. And his exposition is inventive and subtle. The film requires the intelligent participation of the viewer; as the Nagres attempts to discover who betrayed them just like in their previous encounters with the baddies. Varma handles the transitions adroitly, keeping the pace consistent enough to limit any sense of jarring or disorientation. Having said that, he has left so much space by the end of the film giving it yet another chance to make the Sarkar trilogy. Mr Varma, you are sure back with a vengeance!
Performances take off from where they left in Sarkar. Abhishek delivers his best after Yuva and Guru and is very good at suggesting the furies and passions that lie just beneath his character’s controlled exterior. He gives us a Shankar who took over the family proceedings with the intention of making it “legitimate” in couple of years, but who is drawn more and more deeply into a byzantine web of deceit and betrayal, all papered over with code words like respect, honor, and gratitude. New entrant Anita played by Aishwarya Rai does come in handy and even though she hasn’t been used to the extent what RGV should’ve, she delivers each scene with panache, like her scene with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek in the hospital. But not to forget, it is her character which will always question you - ‘What next?’Tanisha as Shankar’s wife fills in the blanks while the other character actors like Chander, Kanga, Vora, Somji, Rao saab and Qazi are used very effectively giving each one of them an equal oppurtunity to showcase their individual talent. What’s even more interesting is that RGV has used them in as we say - ‘bits n pieces’ trying to fix in the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, and that grabs your attention. But having said that, I personally and dearly miss the company of Selva Mani, Rashid and Swmaiji. If only they could return as ‘Bhoots’ in the Sarkar Trilogy. But let me come to the point here. Have I missed someone ? Yes, I have and it’s not someone..it’s Sarkar. As the saying goes, there can only be one king in the jungle. That’s Amitabh Bachchan. For a man who has constantly stuck to one belief ‘Mujhe jo sahi lagta hai, main karta hoon’ he hardly puts a foot wrong. His hard hitting dialogues reminds you of his roles in Agneepath and Khuda Gawah. Subhash Nagre aka Sarkar’s performance is packed with more classic lines than any movie deserves to have and kudos goes to the dialogue writers.Visually, many of Sarkar Raj scenes have a more gloomy appearance this time around which was vital to the sequel. Especially during the latter portions of the film, the Nagres’ are shown in severely underexposed settings, appearing as a silhouette. The crisp editing by Amit Parmar / Nipun Gupta, the haunting background score by Amar Mohile and Director of Photography Amit Roy seems to be the finest in the business. They deserve much more than just awards.
As the beginning of Sarkar Raj echoes the opening of the Nagre family, so too does the end and because of the manner in which circumstances are handled and considering the people involved, the impact here is more forceful. The film has accomplished its poisonous, inevitable designs as RGV punctuates Sarkar Raj with a gut-twisting exclamation point.
Final Note:
Combined, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj represent the apex of Indian movie-making. Sarkar Raj is not so much about crime lords as it is about prices paid in the currency of the soul for decisions made and avoided. It is that quality which establishes this saga as timeless. A rare sequel that surpasses its classic source.

Neetu had to pierce her belly to look hot?

She doesn’t mind being called Sexy Neetu Chandra. And these days she is looking it too, what with a pierced belly button, et al. Says Neetu, “I don’t know where the sexy tag comes from. But I’m happy that it's there. I'd got my belly button pierced a long time back but it was only recently that somebody noticed it and said it looks hot. And that’s when I started showing it off.” And it is a surprise to see her in a sari. Tell her that and she laughs, “Yes, I am basically a very shorts, skirts and T-shirt kind of a person. But once in a while, I do like to don a sari, just to make a new style statement.” With work keeping her busy 24X7, Neetu says there's no real time for love. “But that question does make me think of many good looking men,” she laughs. So, does she like anybody in the industry? “Oh yes, lots of them – Aamir, Akshay, Shah Rukh, the list is so long,” she adds. Neetu, who is single isn’t ready to mingle. “Marriage is not something that I’m thinking of right now. I’m lucky to have parents who are more chilled out than I am. So, life is sorted,” she says.

Cannes Diary Day 2: Waiting For Ash

It wasn't the way my day was meant to start. Woke up to some disturbing personal news that pretty much had me stressed all day. But the good part is, I know things are getting better.
Spent the early part of the morning waiting for Aishwarya Rai to show up. Or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she reminded me when I forgot to add her last name in my on-air introduction. Met Aishwarya at the L'oreal suite on the 7th floor of the Martinez Hotel. I tell you, that suite has one great view, overlooking the Croisette, looking down at the revelers, and across to the wide expanse of clear blue, never-ending sea.
Aishwarya was late. Almost an hour and a half late. But that may not have been her fault as much as it was the fault of the scheduling guys at L'oreal.
The interview was DULL. As most interviews with Aishwarya usually are because she's always so defensive. I've never understood why. But she always is.

I asked her if it was going to be a little celebration of sorts when Abhishek, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan get to Cannes this evening, since the family will be together today the first time since Abhishek and Aishwarya celebrated their first wedding anniversary together in April. Aishwarya didn't like that question apparently and insisted that "We" (the media, who else?) could draw our own inferences but the family only planned to spend some time together, as they normally do when they can. (I still don't know what was so offensive about what I asked, but what the hell, I can't be bothered with trying to figure out!)
That done, it was time for the "Kung Fu Panda" stars. First Jack Black, who is undoubtedly one of the funniest actors working today. The man was friendly, chatty, engaging, and just SO cool. I asked him if he could relate to the role he played in the film - of a misfit with impossible dreams - and he took it so sportingly and said that's exactly why he did the film. Because he felt exactly like that! Gosh, we could do with some more such sporting, unassuming guys in Bollywood!
Next stop, Dustin Hoffman. Just as funny, but mostly poker face. He's one of the finest actors in the business and he's such a humble gentleman! First I had to stop going giddy with excitement about meeting one of my heroes. I mean, he IS Benjamin Braddock! Didn't all of us grow up on "The Graduate"? Here was my hero, being warm and friendly and asking about India, and enquiring about the blasts in Jaipur, and just being so NORMAL. We had a great interview and I could swear I felt like he was happy to chat longer but his publicists edged me out of his room so the next journo could take his turn.
By the time I returned to my room, it was about 5pm and both my colleague Karma and I were starving. We hadn't had a bite since breakfast (which was just cereal and a glass of juice!) But there were some technical issues that needed to be sorted first. We needed a battery light for our camera if we had to shoot in the late evening.
Take it from me, it's not easy finding a battery light in the middle of Cannes. Nobody had one. And just when we decided we'd buy a torch and strap it on the camera, Karma found exactly what he'd been looking for!
Fortunately we could eat now. A lousy pasta and some French fries consumed, we return to our room to shower and change and take on the night. No, no, we're not off to party. We have an event to cover. An event Preity Zinta will attend.
Such is life - my day begins with a Bollywood beauty and ends with one. Hopefully this one won't make me wait hours for an interview!

Khali all set for Kushti in Bollywood

The Indian World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star, The Great Khali is all set to make a mark in Bollywood.
The star of the ring makes his debut with a film aptly titled Kushti. At the wrap-up party of the movie directed by TK Rajeev Kumar, Dalip Singh Rana, stood tall, putting even the talented comedian Rajpal Yadav in the shadows.
“Khali has done a great job in the movie. Khali is the requirement of the film. The film revolves around him,” says actor, Rajpal Yadav.
“He’s a fantastic actor and has a lot of rhythm. He is also a very gentle human being,” says director, Rajeev Kumar.
Khali is confident that his work in the film will please and entertain his fans.

But presently, with Katrina’s gorgeous face and hourglass figure, that are ruling downloads in the cyber space. Not only Ash, Katrina has taken over Kareena Kapoor as well. Bebo and Saif Ali Khan who a few weeks ago, were ranking among the top downloads have also lost out in this download race.

I would have been a spoilt brat if it hadn’t been for Abhishek Bachchan: Zayed Khan

Subhash K. Jha: Zayed Khan, the son of actor-director Sanjay Khan, says he could have ended up becoming a spoilt star son if it hadn’t been for Abhishek Bachchan.
“Yeah, I guess I could’ve become that horrific entity known as the pampered and spoilt brat. But I held on. I always look at Abhishek (Bachchan)’s example to see how tough things can be for a kid from a film family,” Zayed told IANS.
Zayed, who was seen as Shah Rukh Khan’s prankster younger brother in “Main Hoon Na”, also holds brother-in-law Hrithik Roshan in high esteem. “I guess this penchant to prove a point runs in my family. Look at Duggu (Hrithik). He has been quite a portrait of defiant self-improvement.”
So is Zayed’s brother-in-law a source of inspiration too?
“Not in any direct way. Not that I take any tips from him or anything. But, yes, we are a close-knit family. Duggu and I go back a long way. In fact, we knew each other before he got to know my sister Susanne.”

“Last year, I was down and bed-ridden for months on-end because of a slipped disc. ‘Speed’ did get delayed because of me.
“Maybe I subconsciously chose Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Cash’ and Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Speed’ because they required me to exert myself physically. After being confined in bed and getting all the time to retrospect, I wanted to return with stuff that would prove I was as physically fit as I used to be before the bad back.”

So you have finally become one of Bollywood's highest paid actors by bagging a 6 crore deal with Studio 18?

I'm happy that my talent is being recognized. I can't talk about it right now, but yes the figures are close to it.

6 Crore for one film, that's quite a lot of money?

No, no, it's not for one film, but for two films. I'm not in a position to discuss any further on this.

So finally you are out of Salman's shadow?

Now this is weird. Where did it come from (looking irritated)?

You really think you deserve that much money?

Why not? I ended last year with 4 big hits, Namaste London, Apne, Partner and Welcome. And the 4 films made money. So career wise, it's been an extremely fulfilling year for me.

And personally?

Doing well as well. I have taken care of my family and they are happy for me.

What about marriage?

You guys will have to wait for that. I have just started my career and can't afford to give up everything. My first priority is to provide financial security to my family. I have to make them financially secure before marrying someone.

What about the recent news that Salman slapped you?

That's really ridiculous. It was some dirty person's figment of imagination. I have never really discussed my personal life, but enough is enough. I have always believed what personal is personal. But this is too much. The story that has appeared is utter rubbish and fabricated. I suspect that it's been spread by vested interest with ulterior motives. I would like to repeat that nothing of this sort has happened. Normally I don't like to clarify but sometimes one has to take a stand.

Your next release is Race. Heard that you have done some bold scenes?

It's an action thriller. I had lots of fun shooting for the film. Race is extremely slick and has got an international look. It was so special shooting for Race. I am just looking forward to it.

What's on the pipeline?

Race, Singh Is Kingg, Main Yuvraj, and two untitled films with Yashraj films.
